I recently sold a 4006 that was a DAO (bobbed hammer) and want to know how much of a difference there is in trigger pulls compared to a traditional SA/DA 3rd gen trigger? I miss it and want to know if I should wait until I find another like it or get one with a hammer and just bobb the hammer. :)

Was the pistol you let go truly a 4006? Did it have a true DA/SA trigger, but just came with the bobbed hammer? (A number of law enforcement agencies ordered them in that configuration to prevent their officers from cocking the pistol manually - bassackwards logic if you ask me, but I guess it kept the lawers happy).

If so, there should be zero difference in the trigger mechanism between the pistol you recently let go and another 4006 with a spurred hammer.

There will be differences in how the trigger feels based on the number of rounds fired in the gun, the current state of the springs, etc., but the trigger assemblies in each should be the same.

If you really, really want a bobbed hammer then I believe S&W can install one for you. Or, follow your first instinct and find a gunsmith to remove, grind and reshape the hammer that came on the gun. Works just as well.

It was a 4006 and the hammer looked factory. Maybe it was one of those LE guns you mentioned.
