Im trying to find the year made and what vct means serial number is vct7178

VCT is just a the standard serial# sequence that S&W was using at the time your pistol was produced. The serial# dates to the middle 90's. Possibly 1995-96. Thats about as close as you are going to get without a factory historical letter.
