Came across a 4013 for sale today priced at $619. Seems kind of high to me for a shooter grade, but I'm not really familiar with the current market. What say those of you in the know? I didn't think to ask how many mags came with it.

$400 for any shootable S&W metal frame, center fire, semi automatic pistol was a good price before the current market.

It is a very good price now.

Oops. I guess I should have proofread my post better. They're asking $619.

Without knowing how many magazines are included it is hard to answer your question.

We also need to make sure you are talking about the 4013 and not the 4013TSW. These are totally different firearms built on totally different frames

$619 is out of line for a 4013TSW with one magazine, but for a 4013 with half a dozen mags included $619 be a very reasonable price

The 4013 is a candidate for conversion to 10MM Auto

Here is my 4014 which has been converted to a 1014

If you want to convert it to 10mm , I'd jump on it . How many mags ? They can be hard to find . You can always buy it , enjoy it , then turn around and sell it . Depending on the condition , a 4013 is easy to sell here on the forum .

It was not a good price when most of us here bought our guns, but as one of my suppliers said when I tried to talk him down, you may not by it but someone will. It was gone when I came back around. Here, 45 ACP third gens are selling (not to me) for $1,000. Model 945s and shorty 45s are being offered at just under $$3,000. Once again I am glad that I bought what I did when I did, should have bought more, but too late for now.

Reasonable price vs unreasonable price is determined by how many mags come with the gun.

So how many mags come with this gun?

They didn't produce a lot of 4013's. They're rare birds, far more so than the 4016. Its more expensive because there aren't that many in good shape floating around.

Too high at $619. The 4013s were made for four years so there are plenty out there. The 4014 is the rare one with only 550 made.

They have been selling for a little over $500 on GB. Recently, some 4013s have sold for less.

I'd wait for a better price.

If it's the single stack 4013 and you like it -->buy it.

They do not come around very often in person. You can find them online for a little less but then you are dealing with shipping and never know what condition of firearm will show up. Also if you are a fan of the 10mm it can be made into a 10mm and will have greater resale value even if you do not make it into a 10mm.

3 sold recently on GB for mid 400 - mid 500 in good to VGood condition - most with original box or factory case but with single mag - so I would say too high for shooter. Add for multiple mags.

Also be careful to check frame - these were aluminum frame and early units of 40's had frame cracking issue if fired hot. 4013 / 4053 also had 2 variations - early with single recoil spring and late with dual recoil spring (like the 4013TSWs) and thin recoil guide rod and matching slide.

40 cal is dead around here. We can't hardly give them away at the local gun shows. We gave up on them, & now only carry 9mm, & 45. GARY.
