4013 Overpriced? Correction and Update Post 26

I have 3 40s left - low production 4054 (DOA 4014), Shorty 40 and a 4040PD.

Really not a great market for any of them

Sounds like .40 guns are junk.

Fire sale time.

Actually the 4006TSW CHP guns are good quality, robust, and collectable. The other steel framed 4046TSW and 4056TSW variations are equally robust if less desirable due to DAO configuration.

The non-TSW 4006 & 4046 with steel frames should be almost as robust and still give you 11+1 rounds.

The Aluminum frame 4003TSW, 4043TSW and the Aluminum frame non-TSW 4003, 4043, 4013, 4014, 4053, 4054 variants may be a bit less robust, but are still nice guns as long as you stay away from very hot loads.

The 4013/4014/4053/4054 were less popular since they are limited to 8 rounds vs 11 rounds due to the thinner frames.

In their heyday, the metal pistols were heavier and had lower round count than the competing Glock etc.

And in today's ammunition crisis, 40 S&W is harder to find and significantly more pricey than 9mm.
But some of us still appreciate them.

Call it old age, but I was correct in my original post --the asking price is $419, not $619. Only one mag included, and it looks like mags are selling for about $65 on ebay. It also is pretty battered, but looks like only cosmetically (front half of slide pretty scratched up on one side). I'd just be buying it as a shooter.

It does appear that .40 cal seems to have fallen out of favor lately, but I can easily find ammo. On the fence.

419 is fair, gun can be some what restored, if it's the single stack version I would buy yesterday at that dollar....

Thanks to all who responded. I've decided to pass. Don't know of it's still there, but if anybody is interested it was at the Mesa, Arizona Sportsman's Warehouse.

In Todays market... anything S&W 3rd gen is $600 and Up.
Paid $625 for my 915!

Ooof. Glad I have most of what I want and am done buying for a while. The least I ever paid for a 3rd Gen was $269 for a PD trade in 5943 and the most I paid was $1000 for a mint 1066.

I have 2 4506-1's and a 3914DAO that I paid $600 each for. That's about the top of what I'd be willing to pay for non-10mm 3rd gens.
