Does anyone have any experience with the 4013? It appears it is a 3rd generation just as my 908.
If you do, what do you think of a price of $379.99 used, in good condition.

Nice price if its in good condition. I have one. Very accurate and the trim profile makes it easy for CCW. Shoots everything I put in it. Doesn't seem to have the recoil of some of my other 40's. Nice package - buy it!

Ah, the 4013 . . . What's not to like?

I'm still trying to figure how that one round at 1 o'clock got there.

They're really neat - but I feel they're a bit larger than they need be (the same size as a 4516). My P239 in .40 was a little bit smaller, and was plenty darned accurate.

I keep being attracted to 4013s, but I always wind up looking more seriously in the 3913s instead.

Bought mine new in '94. Carry it every day. Eats all ammo like a starving bird dog. Shooting IDPA with all of the 1911 guys is fun. With a little 3 inch barrel and a D/A first shot it, takes a lot of practice to hit center with the first round. I wish the mag well was beveled more, and the mag relaese was extended a bit. All in all a great weapon.

Thanks for your input. Made my purchase yesterday but don't know when I will get to the range. It also came with 3 mags. Winter has arrived in Northern Michigan.
When I broke it down today I was surprised there was an inner and outer spring on the guide rod. My gunsmith explained the reason. I was thinking of purchasing another set of springs but all I find on line through Brownell's and S&W is the 4013TSW. Will those work? I posed this question under the "smithing" section but have only received one reply. Does anyone have any functional issues with the 4013?

Yeah, they're the same as the 4013TSW. It's the same spring set as for the 4516-2. The -1 had a single spring, unless it was sent back to S&W for a retro-fit like my 4516-1. You have the Revision 4 (R4) recoil spring guide in your 4013 and need S&W part numbers 10866 (outside) and 10867 (inside) recoil springs.

None in particular that I'm aware of. However, some recommend that the recoil springs in compact pistols with dual springs be changed more often than others. The recommendation, which I follow, is every 1,500 rounds or so. Since the springs are relatively cheap, you can get two or three spring sets for your parts kit for a very reasonable price. That should hold your for quite awhile.

I miss my early production 4013. It was sold to feed my lawyer during my divorce.

Scary accurate, and a joy to carry.

The only problem I ever had was reloading during an IDPA match. I forgot to keep my fingers away from the bottom of the grip, and got bit (a couple of times) during the fast mag changes. That is a pain that lasts awhile

Great pistols, I hope to come across another. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

factory mags for it?
Mags you can find, but forget finding just the followers. They are OBS (obsolete) per S&W and they mean it.

Hi Denver Dick & Wefski,
Thank you for the info.
