Request input/feedback on the 4013TSW. Concerned with how the aluminum alloy frame would hold up to the 40 S&W. Any issues (cracks, other damage) with the AL frame? Any data on service life, estimated round count without any cracks or other damage would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for input.

I have three 4013's, and early single stack on the .45 frame, a non rail tactical, and a railed .40 tactical. Each has over 1000 rounds or close to it. The only one that shows any wear is the single stack. The frame locking lugs, that lock the barrel are peened pretty good. The TSWs do not exhibit this type of wear. The TSWs have shot mostly all 180 grain ammo. I don't detect any other wear or cracks.

I figure if the polymer framed M&P can handle over 65,000 rounds without a hiccup, the old aluminum framed ones will too... ;)

This is what the frame's barrel cam shoulders looked like in my personally-owned 4013TSW after more than 2,500 rounds.

I showed it to someone from the factory one time and was told that it looked about the same as their pair of 4003TSW's ... both of which had been fired more than 25,000 rounds for competition.

As with an alloy-framed 3rd gen gun, I make sure mine remains sufficiently lubricated, and I also tend to replace the recoil springs a little sooner than normally recommended. The recoil springs are a dual, nested pair of light blue painted springs in the 4013TSW's (which are the same ones used in the 457, 4513TSW & 4040PD, BTW).

If you can afford to shoot enough ammo to wear one out (presuming proper maintenance and spring replacement periodically), the factory would probably like to learn about it.

Sorry I don't have a definitive answer to your question, but it's no longer something which keeps me awake at night, either. ;)

My father carries a 4013TSW doublestack. Its been very reliable and a great weapon for him. I wasn't a fan of the thickness because of the dress clothes I wear so I have a 4040PD or 3913TSW for carry.
