4014 price check

Could some of you knowledgable people give me a price check for a 4014 with original box, papers, tools and evrything that came with the gun. If I remember correctly I purchased the gun new in 1991. Condition is like new.

I would love to have that one. I found one a couple of years ago at a gun store here in So. California. It was 99%+ condition, but no box or paperwork. Although, I purchased a 4013 (single stack) back in 1995, I had never seen the blue 4014 up to that point. So I bought it for something like $425 or $450, I just can't recall exactly.

Because I thought it might be rare, I requested a factory letter from S&W. Sure enough, there were only 550 made. According to Roy Jinks at S&W, it simply was not popular and was cataloged for around 2 years (it took them 2+ years to sell 550 of them). On the other hand, the 4013 with stainless steel slide was popular and remained cataloged until 1996, 5+ years. It was then replaced with the 4013 TSW.

Frankly, with the box and everything, I don't think you should sell it, but that's me. If you do sell it and it's in "like new" condition, I don't think you should take less than $500 for it (maybe $550, if you can get it), but I'm partial to the little guy.

By the way, I'm just curious if the s/n of yours is close to mine (VBA09xx) . . . so is it?

The thing that attracted me to the 4014 was the size and weight. I shot it one time and put it in the safe where it has been ever since. Being a 1911 shooter for years I just coudn't live with the trigger pull. Also that "hammer falling with the safety lever thing" got on my nerves.

I can appreciate that. I purchased my 4013 in 1995 and didn't care for the trigger pull myself. So, when my brother and his first wife were going through a divorce in 1996, and he was feeling pretty low, I gave him my 4013 as a gift that Christmas to cheer him up. He liked it but didn't shoot it much, he liked a Glock 23 I sold him later much better and shot the heck out of that pistol.

Anyway, when I got the 4014 two years ago, I asked him if he still had the 4013 that I had given him back in 1996. He read my mind and responded, "Yeah, I haven't shot it in years. It's in the gun safe. You want to buy it to go with your 4014?" I said, "You bet!" So, I ended up with Salt & Pepper. It's still in 99% condition.

By the way, I've been collecting S&W 3rd generation pistols now for about 4 years and love shooting them. You get use to the trigger.

I have seen yours on other threads, but wasnt sure of this was a TSW version. From the sounds of it, they never made a 4014TSW did they?
