4040PD

I finally got my 4040PD to the range. I've owned it since the spring but have never gotten a chance to shoot it (life in NJ...shooting is always an ordeal).
I couldn't be happier with the gun I thought it would be more of a handful but with 165 gr. bullets it was a pleasure. I found it new at a gun shop in PA with a heavy discount $535. Seems they wanted to be rid of the old stock.

I find my 4040 to be my favorite pistol. It is the perfect size and weight for carry and still has managable recoil. Enjoy your new pistol.

And Frank, the 4040 is a hard to find pistol, but they do come up on occasion. You won't be disappointed when you do find one.

Last week Kittery Trading Post still had one used. They've had it since April. Check their web site, it's got a great used gun search feature. I've bought a couple of guns from them in the past, nice people to deal with.

Thanks. I just looked at their site and they have one listed for $575. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see how firm they are on their prices.

I had one and wish to heck I still had it. Like a 'tard I sold it. I know it is in good hands and if the current owner ever wanted to sell it I would buy it back in a second.

Everytime I have tried to deal with KTP their prices have been pretty darn firm. Last time I checked over at their site they had a very unique looking 1006 that had a blued finish and was magnaported, even had original box. Overall I think KTP keeps their price right around what current market is.

I'm really torn on this one. I'm back to the fact that for $550 I can get a Sig P239 SAS with warranty. The 4040pd is sooooo unique though.

Are you sure you can get the Sig 239 in .40 for that price?

I can't comment on the Sig as I haven't shot it but I love my 4040pd and believe you won't be disappointed if you chose it.

I have the Sig 239 in 9mm. I bought it because it was alleged that my department had approved it for off-duty carry. When I retire in 2 yrs (please God) it will be the 1st thing I sell. I thinks it's blocky and top heavy though it shoots well.

it is heavy, the finish wears off all over the place with wear, and the slide fit is so loose it rattled.....i hated to get rid of it , but just couldn't deal with those issues...

I had a 4040PD. I sold it during the divorce when I got rid of all my 40's to feed the divorce attorney.

Nice pistol, but it didn't do anything any better than my 3913. I found it to be a little snappy too. Regards 18DAI.

I just bid on one that looks to be in excellent condition. It should share holsters with my 3913. I've never owned a scandium framed gun before. How do they tend to hold up compared to aluminum alloy?

My 4040PD is a keeper.

I made an interesting mistake with it. One day at the range I was shooting it along with a P239. I had finished with the 239and went to shoot the 4040. The gun fired, felt funny, sort of like a squib but a lot more, and the slide did not cycle enough to eject the round. Upon further examination once the case was removed from the gun it turned out to be 9mm. I had left my Caseguard of 9 open and went I went to load 40 I took from the wrong case. After a complete inspection of the pistol there was no damage whatsoever. Plus, the one shot that I think was out at seven or ten yards was surprisingly close to the ten ring. I got lucky all the way around. Lesson learned.

educating myself...so the 4040pd is built on the 3913ls/nl frame? so the 3913 derlin grips would fit as well?

Yes they will,
you will just need the longer grip pin that is used in a 908 and 4013 single stack.
