4046 Odd Spec Ord (Date) Code 8767

Looking for info on odd date codes not conforming to normal decode of Spec Ord first digit = last digit of year and next 3 digits = day of that year
Specifically "Spec Ord 8767"

This is a true Special Order code. Someone here may know what it means, or it may take an "Ask Roy Jinks" inquiry or letter.

Anything different or unusual about the gun, or any idea about the original purchaser? A bunch of these were recently sold as Brink's security trade ins.

Its not a Brinks gun - the Product code is 148767, Spec Ord 8767, SKU 0 22188 48767 1. No odd markings, looks like a standard 4046 with night sights.

The Brinks 4046 (non TSW) are Product code 148543 per SW

Have also seen others with similar odd Spec Ord and matching Product Code and SKU (The first is a 3913TSW 7rd but box is not marked TSW, the middle 2 photos appear to be standard 4046 and 5946 pistols with no unique features, the 4th photo is a 4566 non-TSW said to be factory Melonite)

There are also numerous other Spec Ord Codes with higher last digits than 365 but with normal Product Codes and SKUs

I don't know if this will help or not ..... I have a 4043 I bought just because it had a product code that wasn't in the book . I got a letter and come to find out a sheriff in the midwest special ordered it . This could be what you're looking at , a true special order from an individual .
