Help me with ankle carry. I've been reading around a bit and thought a current query wouldn't hurt. I'm currently overweight, but now working out with a trainer several times a week, making good progress so I hope this problem disappears soon...it will be about year though! I'm pretty sure that the 40c is the right gun for me after shooting quite a few different guns as it seems the most versatile in the line.

A co-worker offerered to show me his CC 40c. He rolled across the room to his backpack...unzipped the bag...removed the weapon..dropped the mag, and checked the chamber, which was empty all along! I would claim for the most part he was better throwing the bag at the attacker as the weapon was WAY too far from being effective at a moments notice. IF I CC I want something MUCH better.

Is the 40c with short mags too big to ankle carry? That seems like the most concealable place to me, with my body shape and dress requirements. We do not wear jackets so the carry has to work for a tucked in dress shirt. A jacket would draw too much attention in my current position.

I suppose I could buy a Shield for CC, but the 40c seems so much more versatile...short or long mags...40 or 9 barrel. How do you go wrong with this gun! I'd sure like to start with a 40c. Does anybody ankle carry this gun?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a friend who ankle carries. It's fine as long as you wear straight-leg jeans or slacks. Just make sure they're a bit longer so they break below your calf.

i have carried a 657 3"(41 magnum) in an ankle holster for a long time...works well....have also carried a full size 1911 that way too

I don't know about the 40c, but I carried a Glock 27 on my ankle in a Galco Ankle glove, no calf strap for years. I have lower back problems today, but not sure what caused it. Nevertheless, I don't carry anything on my ankle at the moment. I have tried a variety of ankle holsters and have found that the Galco was the most comfortable for me. The neophrene band seems to adjust well. I will say that the ankle holster did tend to get uncomfortable when wearing for more than eight hours.

That's one chunky monkey you want to strap to your ankle. Ankle carry is for the movies, in real life it's uncomfortable and hard to reach. There are much better options. IWB and if you can't, pocket carry. I love my 40c but it's a bit too fat to pocket carry. The 40 shield isn't, I can pocket carry in jeans, slacks or cargo shorts. In scrubs concealing a **** with smart carry (thunder wear) is a piece of cake.

Based off experience I'd stay away from ankle carry.

HDBeagle:

Loose your trainer and ride your bike to work.

I have been riding 9 miles per day to and from the train and my back problems went away and I feel better and even have a better outlook on life.

I am 6'2" and wear 34 x 32 pleated slacks and for nearly 8 months I have been pocket packing in a Desanti my Shield 9mm. I changed out the stock sight for a low profile XS sight and quick draw is A-ok.

While you are loosing the pounds try IWB. I have a Galco which is very comfortable.

Thanks for the info.

As for the bike to work...20 miles in a WI Winter is not really an option.
