I bought my M&P in part because I'd heard they will eat most anything you feed them. Indeed, my used 40c has never once complained about any of the cheap aluminum case junk I've run through it. It has been 100% reliable! So I bought 4 boxes of Perfecta 170 gr FMJ at Wal-Mart. I wish I had tried a box first, because the first box resulted in at least 25% or 30% failures to feed. Even on racking the slide on the first round of a mag. Due to their no return or exchange policy on ammo, I am stuck with 3 more boxes. I saw mostly positive feedback on a thread in the Ammo Forum but I didn't read through all 3 pages. Oh well, live and learn.

When a problem occurs with Perfecta/Fiocchi, its usually going to be with the 170gr .40 hanging on the feed ramp. I bought a box just to experiment with, and did have a hang up on my Sig SP2022 which has never had a problem with any kind of ammo. It was only one out of a whole box, so I was lucky I guess, but will never buy again.
Without retyping everything, my post is #81 in the Perfecta thread. Again just my 0.02

I had the same issue as well. I painfully shot through the 2 boxes I purchased and just hope the brass is still useful for reloading.

I bought a box this weekend and had 0 problems with the box. It's funny how some feed and others do not. I just had the one box but going to buy more this weekend.

I tried Aguilla ammo once, never had so many FTF and FTE in my .22 pistol and rifle. I will never buy that brand again, in any caliber.

I had a problem with the Perfecta 9mm in my Ruger 9E,, Several FTE.. But the brass was good so not a total loss,, Funny to see it happens in a 40 as well

I'm glad I opened this post, I was about to order some Fiocchi ammo, thanks to all.

I think Fiocchi and Perfecta are two different animals. I've fed my 40C many boxes of Fiocchi and never had a hiccup. I've also fed it to my Hi pointe and the same, no issues.

Try some first before judgment.

You will find that there is no such thing as 100% function with ALL ammo. You will find reports of feeding problems with any ammo manufacturer.....any. How many here have had problems with Speer Gold Dots? They are some of the best and most consistent ammo out there and yet I know a guy who's gun doesn't like them. Will shoot anything else but Gold Dot. Some people here have had problems with Remington ammo, others with Winchester. If YOU personally have had problems with a specific ammo manufacturer then don't buy that but to go off of the Internet would mean your gun is only good for throwing.

My experiences so far have been good with all the ammo I've bought and tried, including Perfecta. All 9 and 40 were shot through my Glocks and HK. My only problem has been having to buy more. If I run into one with problems I'll simply avoid it next time

Made in Italy, the .40 170gr TC bullet and link below suggest they are the same animal.
Not saying all Perfecta is bad, or that the .40 won't run well in different guns. If I shot 9mm, I'd certainly give it a try, but I don't trust the .40 170gr. after it hung on the ramp of my Sig.
If Perfecta is indeed Fiocchi, a search of "Fiocchi 40 feed issues" will bring up the same problem in a variety of guns with at same bullet.

Mark, if you PM some of the members who use Perfecta without a problem you might want to offer them your remaining stock at a good price. That might be the answer to your problem. I've never tried it in my 40 or 40C & now I think I'll just continue using WWB, American Eagle & the few Gold Dots, HST, & Critical Defense SD rounds I put downrange to verify performance all without one problem of any kind.

Thanks but I'll probably just use it for practice. It will also serve as a reminder to try before stocking up.

Yeah. Burn the stuff up. It'll get you well trained for what the Military calls "immediate action drills". Who knows? Maybe once your pistol is broken in the ammo will start working just fine.

Perfecta is a Tulammo distributed in the .40, in rifle calibers it is Fiocchi made from what I have found on their website.

The box of Perfecta I bought at wally world said "Distributed by Tulammo" on it. I had failure to feed with this ammo in my M&P 40 FS almost every round. It was hanging up on the barrel hood/lip. The case has a sharp edge where it meets the bullet. If you run you finger over it it is very pronounced compared to most others. I always check this now on unfamiliar ammo brands.

True story: I sold the Perfecta ammo to a friend with a Glock 23 and it ate it up with no issues. Glocks have a different Barrel hood design that doesn't mind this so much.

This Pic is not mine but it is of a Shield barrel but the lip is the same on my FS M&P.

I have researched about smoothing out the upper lip on the barrel of my M&P 40, but have found nothing indicating if it was safe or not, so I just stay clear of this brand now. YMMV

Bought a couple of boxes at Walmart today at just over $13 a box couldn't resist. Took them home and ran them all through a case checker. It seems the crimp is not very good and there is a slight sharp edge as someone else had mentioned. I ran all the rounds through my Dillon's crimping die to put just enough of a crimp so that the rounds slide easily in and out of the case checker. I will give this ammo a try, hopefully no hangups.

Newbie here this is my first post. Hello . I just picked up a m&p 40 from a friend , went by wally world to get a box of ammo perfecta was cheap got to the range and guess what FTF on the 2nd round . 1st thing I thought was this guns junk (my 1st s&w) well after another ftf I took the ammo the guy had left over and tried it no problem . so I buy a box of range ammo and it shoot good also. Well I sure will not buy that ammo again. Sorry for the long story. But I think this gun doesn't like this ammo.
