I have the Safari land 6378 ALS outside the waistband. for inside the waistband, I have a foxx holster called the little foxx.

+1 on Jyezahn. Blackhawk Serpa for OWB. Secure, fast presentation and sets up for paddle or belt. Amazon.com: BLACKHAWK! Serpa CQC Carbon Fiber Black Holster (Matte Finish): Sports & Outdoors Select M&P 9/40.

For CC I use an Old Faithful IWB. Like frgtgh91's Galco KingTuk, the Old Faithful and those like it offer comfort and concealment all day long. Old Faithful Holsters - The Holster Store of Most Comfortable Gun Holsters The neat thing about Old Faithful is the money saving Kits they offer. Check them out.

It is a bit difficult to make suggestions since there are many ways to carry. You have not indicated if this is for the range, competion, or concealed carry. Each of these posts, however, give you some options. Have fun choosing.

The blackhawk serpa shows they have them for a 40 but doesn't say it's for a compact. Can I still use?

By the way this is for concealment.

comp tac mtac is my favorite IWB. most adjustable and comfortable.

Yes, it works for FS and C's. It is an outside the waist band holster though, so it's better for winter concealment rather than year round. Of course, depending on your build, clothing, etc.

What style is better for year round?

Unless you wear really loose clothing in the summer, an OWB holster isn't ideal for concealment. But some people can pull it off because of their build/clothing style. If you like to wear tank tops and shorts, an IWB holster would be better. I love my Serpa, but it'd be hard for me to conceal in the summer since I'm 5'5" and 145 lbs.
