Bday coming up, figure'd I would treat myself to a new revolver. I have always liked the model 10 and model 19. I also wouldn't be opposed to a 9MM. Im open to all and any suggestions.

I would pick the 19 due to adjustable sights. What barrel length? I don’t have a 19 but have the stainless equivalent in 2.5” that was my dads. Fabulous gun!

I’m a snub nose fan and also have a beautiful model 10 2” and a 1948 M&P 2” that’s my birth year gun. If you don’t mind fixed sights the 10 is a solid gun.

Have a great birthday!

I should have asked in my OP. Is the Performance Center stuff worth it for revolvers?

Well, I think the coolest looking gun is the 3.5" M27-2 for looks or a pre 27. The air is getting awful thin where the price of these are going.

The top one is mine. The bottom is a 25-5

Depends on what you're looking for. Overall, I think it is worth it. The PC revolvers have nicer triggers but you could do the same yourself with a $20 Wolf Spring kit. But some PC models have other features, such as the fluted barrel (see the 640 Pro vs the standard 640).

Why treat yourself to only 1?

Well Gman686, happy upcoming 40th!

Since you're going to be 40, why not start your revolver search for something that's your age or older? That way, you'd be getting one without the lock. Older 19s and 10s are both fine well balanced revolvers that come in various barrel lengths.

The 19 is a great revolver. I've seen the 4" are most common. Plus, they shoot .357s and .38s whereas the 10 is only .38

Not that there's anything wrong with a 10 either. Heck, I just picked up my first 10 this week; a 10-4 4", and it's really nice.

Decisions, decisions...tough one.

You did say: "Im open to all and any suggestions."

Hmmm, all suggestions? Why anguish over that choice? You only turn 40 once, so why not get ALL SUGGESTIONS? Reward yourself twice! Yep, get a 19 and a 10, make it a birthday to remember!

Ha! Thanks! Where can I find older revolvers? Getting a revolver thats my age is actually a pretty good idea. Im torn between the 19 or a performance center. I already own the 686 which I absolutely love.

Both beautiful

can't really go wrong with a K frame... I prefer the heavy barrel model tens, and a model 19-4 4 inch is wonderful.. so dealers choice really... but nickel or blue?

My thoughts exactly

Not knowing what you have, you NEED a 38 special. I have a 686 that I love as well, and I also have a M15-4. I love it as well and there’s just something “different” about shooting 38’s in it vs the 686, and I don’t shoot 38’s in my 686 anymore.

A vintage Smith and Wesson Model 627-0 with the unfluted cylinder and no lock or MIM, NIB of course (if you can find one, probably will be ONLY around 2 grand!!) Only 40 once and as stated, might as well go big. When your 70+, like me, you won't regret it. Good luck.
