I love the 41 magnum round and the problem is when I see one I have to take it home with me. Things have been slow around here but I visited one of my LGS and there it was 2nd day on consignment model 58. Very nice not a LEO gun but it had the dreaded pachmayr grips. At 850 I figured I could buy some nice magna's for it lol like I could walk out without it. I searched a couple weeks and did not see any I thought was nice enough to put on it so I went with Sambar Stag. N1153xx guessing around 73?

Nice group of .41's and the Sambar really dress up that Model 58. And yes, I am also a fan of the .41 mag. I've been casting my bullets and loading the .41 mag. since 1972.

Those Sambar Stags are beautiful, but at the range you may be wishing you still had the Pachs installed.

Just wondering:
I thought Sambar Stags had a yellowish hue. So I'm wrong about that?

I just saw a set of n square pc magnas for sale in the parts section for not a bad price…

I haven't seen a pre lock N frame for sale in a LGS for over a year.
Congratulations on your new acquisitions, the Mod. 58 and the stag
grips!!

You have no problem, just an appreciation of a fine caliber and handguns. But if you think it's a problem I will take custody of your collection until the monkey is off your back.

Nice, and stag is always a good choice...I picked up another 57 (6" nickel) yesterday...But I can't find an affordable 58 locally to save my life...:o...Ben

THAT is not a “problem”! :D Congratulations on your new Model 58. :)

I see you also have what appears to be an 8-3/8” Model 57. I have been fortunate to have owned lots of S&W target-sighted magnums, but never an 8-inch 57. (A regret.) Maybe some day… :o

Enjoy your new 58! :)

Quite a nice group of .41's. I feel fortunate to have found my M57 and M58, and treasure them the most of all my S&W's.

Thanks guys, it's a problem I can deal with. The stocks come from Rogers Guns, they are ink stamped HANDCRAFTED NAPERVILL ILL just a few miles from where Eagle grip are now.

..nice collection...now you just need a 4" 57 or maybe a 657 Mountain Gun to round things out...

Neither of my keeper 58s came with the original stocks. One had a set of rubber Hogue and the other a pretty beaten set of S&W Targets... A friend transformed the Targets into a really nice set of shortened Targets with a rounded bottom sorta like have PC Magna with a built in T-grip...

Both now wear Herrett's Detective grips...they just fit my hand best for DA work...

Keep looking...you will find more. Better than money in the bank.

When I had my elk antler Magnas made up for my Model 27, I had the bottoms rounded off like the PC grips on the K-, and L-frames. That way, I can curl my little finger under the bottom of the grip frame for better recoil control.

If memory serves, they were made by Craig Graishorn. My spelling of the name might be off.

I’m trying to recognize the problem here, but I’ll tell you one thing that is a nice gun. It also looks really good with the stag grips.

Last year I sold my 57 long tube, my 657 and my Ruger SBH..

Still have 2 Model 58's and a Dan Wesson 41V. I regripped the DW since this photo was taken.

Nice.

I had a very nice 6" 57 and sold it and kept the 58.
The 58 is my only .41 Magnum.

I get the .41 problem.

I've have a 4" 58 from '64 or '65 for decades and recently added a 6" 57 from '79 or '80.

How many .41s does an old man need? Well a 4 5/8" Ruger Blackhawk and a Marlin lever would fit in the safe, so I'm still looking.
