I just got back from my favorite LGS/Range. They had a nice 6" blue 57 no-dash that had just hit the used-consignment shelf for $850. Had a noticeable turn line but was timed correctly on all six bores both SA and DA. Yoke had no wiggle and blended really well into the frame. No obvious signs of abuse or heavy use of rhino-rollers. But I passed. I WANTED it but could think of other things to do with $1k than buy I gun I would only rarely actually shoot. I like .41 mag. I own a model 58 that is my favorite walk-in-the-woods gun. Maybe I am getting older and smarter. (Or not.)

I hadn't bought many S&Ws over the past 11 years. My son got me interested in them again. I've bought four in the past few weeks plus a Colt Python. I need to cool my jets!

My best friend has never really been interested in handguns until about two years ago.

I could live off the money he spends on them now. LOL

That sounds like a really good price for a Model 57 in the condition described, but only if you are a reloader. Factory .41 Magnum ammo is expensive and sometimes hard to even find at local shops.

I know this buddy, selling a 4" for 800, with its box and accessories, in safe queen conditions. Alas, we are overseas. Other markets, as I often say.....

If I walked into my LGS and saw that , it definitely would have came home . I already have a nice 6" blue 57 but at that price for such a nice piece , I would have got it . Regards Paul

I feel the same about my M-29's. Picked up a M-24 last week that looked like it had been shot once, cleaned and put away since 2008. Paid $828 on auction and brought it home Monday. Put 100 rounds through it and will clean it today. Didn't need it, just wanted it.
No regrets at all. I would have been kicking myself if I had talked myself out of it.

Rick
