.44 hand ejector 2nd model

I’m really trying to keep my collecting focused on 32-20 targets BUT!!!!!! I also have a soft spot for 44spl’s as well.I own several but never an N frame. This one came up for sale locally and i jumped on for $800 otd. I know the herrett grips are incorrect and the front sight is modified. The condition is good the bore and chambers are excellent. The action is fantastic, smooth and tight. The 3 notches filed in side the grip frame are very intriguing as well. Now all I need are a butt swivel grips and a holster. Sn22835

Nice! I have two 2nd Models, one blued and one nickel, I love shooting these old .44 Specials. I use cowboy loads and they are a lot of fun. It would look great with a lanyard and proper grips, too bad about the front sight but should be a nice shooter!

We see that front sight modification so often that it's hard to believe it has any significant price effect on anything other than truly pristine collectibles. And those haven't been shot enough for anyone to bother making a mod.

S&W 2nd HE, a 5” blue .44 Special, # 26378, shipped in May 1926. It is also built on a 1917 frame. When I bought it, the lanyard loop hole had been plugged. I removed the plug and installed a lanyard loop.

Nice gun, BTW, and a great price.. you will love how these shoot. This is a target I shot with factory ammo at 25 ft with my 2nd model 44 HE. Scared me when I pulled that target back...
