44 HE 2nd model 5"

I scored this one last week. It's a .44 HE, 2nd model with a 5" barrel. Easily very good, and mechanically it's excellent, and it's been shot a good bit, by looking at the recoil shield.

I have a second model that cam to me with cokes on it. I think I am into the gun for about $150 if I subtract the value of the grips.

This is the one that started me on the road to 44 specials. Bought because I had six 44 special cartridges in the safe.

Before I bought my first .44spl I passed on a really rough 2nd model 6” like the one above, but it had a pretty decent set of prewar magnas on it. At the time it just wasn’t the gun to justify starting to reload another cartridge…….
Things you regret down the road. Minus the value of the grips, I probably would have been into the gun for a hundred bucks or so.
