We were heading to the PI to catch up with the USS Midway . We had our 4 EA-6B's and an F-14 was going with us . We landed at Wake Island to spend the night . The next morning the pilots were feeling their oats , and put on a little show . Our birds were a little pitiful , but the Tomcat was a hit . He took off and went into a straight climb . Next thing he was coming out of the sun and beveled off maybe 100ft off the deck . Then he broke the sound barrier , you can actually see it , it's pretty neat to see , and hear .
