44 Mag. Four Screw with forward roll marks member opinions

Two guns next to each other, identical condition, same price…I guess it would factor into my decision, otherwise…no.

Does anybody know for sure it was a "mistake"? Is it possible that the roll mark that is correctly centered was a choice, like "new Coke" , that didn't exactly fly?

My 1958 4-screw has the stamps almost centered on both sides of the barrel...so I guess it's "forward roll". I couldn't care less, and it's one of the favorites in my modest collection!

I personally believe that the forward roll marks make the gun much more valuable! Why, you may ask. Simple, because I have one!! Of course, I had never heard of this variation before I got mine. It was pointed out to me here on the forum. Here is mine:
