RSR has some 442's without the lock available. They aren't shown on their website yet but they do have some in stock. My rep called me this morning to let me know. If anyone has been following allglock's thread about the 442's now is your chance to get one. I'll post how many RSR shows in stock when they update their website. Mine will be here tomorrow.

SR- Thanks a bunch man for staying on top of this! I'm sure like most of us here we appreciate it!

Looks like I gotta call my dealer tomorrow.

460v thanks for the heads up on the rebate. stevie-ca, I think these are 442-1. I'll know for sure tomorrow when it gets here. StreetSweeper, no problem. I'm glad to do it.

Still shoing zero in stock on the website but they do have them. Mine is out for delivery right now. I can't wait to see the big brown truck. I'll try to post some pics if I can. Had a molar pulled this am and I'm still a little groggy.

Here she is.

I noticed when I opened the cylinder that these are 442-2's. Won't get to the range until next week. Finally got one without the lock.

Hi,

I noticed when I opened the cylinder that these are 442-2's. Won't get to the range until next week. Finally got one without the lock.

Interesting that they aren't bumping the dash number or using the before lock number.

I saw someone post that the latest CDNN catalog shows "NO INTERNAL LOCK" for these models:

60, 3" Full Lug 357, Regular Front Sight
60, 3" Full Lug 357, HI-VIS Front Sight
64, 2" 38+P
629, 6.5" Full Lug 44mag

Got to wonder if the lock is finally dying!!!

Just called my rep today so hopefully I'll have mines next week.

Isn't it ironic that the other threads on this subject were locked

As nice as these no-locks are it would seem that S&W is only doing this for DA only guns.

Ordered four of them today, as well as a no-lock 37, and will have them in stock on Tuesday, 10/14. (I'll be keeping one for myself and putting my 442 WITH the lock into the used gun case...

Hi Mike,

Alank, probably used guns.

Usually CDNN says stuff like "good to very good" or "like new" on the used ones. I can't say for sure as it doesn't mention anything about them being used or new...

Good luck,

Alan

Hi,

I called my FFL yesterday, and he received it today! I picked it up a couple hours ago.

It has a defect in the anodized finish, in front of the trigger guard the part of metal that faces down, almost like a lighter color splash of some sort, but other than that is perfect.

I'm so HAPPY to have a lockless 442!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Alan

Congrats Alan. Sorry to hear about the finish problem. When I ordered a set of 442's back in January one of them had some light scratches. They were on the backstrap and just above the rear of the cylinder on the topstrap of the frame. About two minutes and some aluminum black and it was fixed. I kept the one with the scratches and gave the other to my best friend. I don't care for the front sight on my new 442 but it is purely an aesthetic issue. My 442 with the IL has the serrations on the sight all the way to the top and then a smooth top portion. My new no lock 442 has the same barrel I've seen on the 642's. It has a small notch just at the end of the serrations before it meets the small smooth portion at the top. Like I said purely aesthetic. Glad you finally got your no lock 442.

Hi SR?,

Thank you for keeping up with it; I appreciate your effort in checking everyday or so in the last few weeks.

In a way it is sort of ok that the finish already has a blemish. I won't be too concerned when the Uncle Mike's sidekick pocket holster I usually use starts putting those little zig zag patterns into it!

It sure looks great without that lock!!!

Thanks,

Alan

WOO F'N HOO!!!!!

It took me three years, but I just recently found a no-lock unfired 640-1 NIB.

But this new gun from Smith has me almost as excited. No-lock approved for California? Is this a dream?

Hi,

About two minutes and some aluminum black and it was fixed.

Aluminum black you say? How did it blend? Is it a pen or something different?

Thanks

Alan

It filled in the scratch nicely. Turned the frame black in a matter of seconds. If you know where to look and hold it in the right light you can still make out the scratch but I'm the only one who ever sees it because I know exactly where to look. I am really satisfied with how it works. I've used it on my Beretta 92G Elite II with good results as well. It blended perfectly with my 442. It comes in a bottle and I applied it with a q-tip. You can get a touch up pen but it is another product not the Aluminum Black. I have one of the pens and it worked on my Kimber. It's like a black paint marker. Check out the Birchwood Casey website. Most gun and sporting goods stores carry both of them. Here's a link.

Hope this helps.

Imaposer, I'm assuming you are referring to the price of the 442's? If so I'll let somebody else answer that one because I have an FFL and I purchased mine at dealer cost.

Yes, I was referring to the 442. I didn't catch the question about the Aluminum black in the post above me. Sorry for the confusion.
