Like just about everybody else here, I have a great appreciation for the .45 ACP revolver. I always thought of myself as a .44 kind of guy, but I have almost as many .45s as the reduced-bore guns.
Sometimes a four inch barrel is too long, and you want something like this 625-3 Model of 1989:
Other times you want a longer barrel, like the 5-1/2 inches on this early 1917...
... or this knockabout Brazilian, which always grouped well but now shoots closer to POA than you see here after some minor home gunsmithing.
Even though the loyal opposition is mostly known for its .45 semi-autos, they made some darn fine revolvers in that chambering too. Like this pair for example.
When I first heard of revolvers that chambered .45 ACP years ago, my first thought was, "Oh, why?" As soon as I acquired and range tested my first one, I knew the answer immediately.
I have never shot .45 AR in any of these. I am a huge fan of moonclips for the reasons mentioned above, and in moonclips, the nylon Rimz units are my absolute favorite. Yes, they are expensive compared to stamped steel, but boy are they easy to work with!
