45 colt

When I run my hog trap line, I always have a Cimarron 45 Colt with me. Low recoil, low blast, and has never failed me. I'd very much like to get one in 22LR/22Mag for fun time. Colt quality is a far removed from past production, and I'd pick a clone over any new Colt. That's just me though.

Colt SAA's can be finicky and Colt has had quality issues in the past early 3rd gens were nortorious for that- current production 3rds are said to be first rate revolvers- but Colt has changed some of the markings on the gun turning off Colt traditionalists. I love the Colt SAA's, but also like the Ruger New Vaquero I got a birds head S/S in .45 ACP- dang thing was fitted like a Colt custom shop gun, got a blue one it was kind of a dog. Don't reload so .45 ACP worked for me cheap big bore ammo.

There is also the "Standard Arms SAA"- can get one for 2K. Some folks love them, some on the fence some don't like them at all. Standard is a new SAA not a total clone of the Colt- their version of a SAA update.

My advice to someone just getting into S/A revolvers would be to get a Ruger New Vaquero .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertable or a Ruger Black Hawk in the same configuration.

S/A revolvers are great- relaxing to shoot and you don't have to chase brass. 5 or six rounds should do just about anything you need, guys who practice with them are deadly accurate and can shoot them fast as a machine pistol.

Over at the Colt forum there are a few people like that- century's of SAA knowledge there.
