I just fondled a S&W Performance Center CQB stainless in .45 and loved it. What is the deal with this gun? I was told they only made about 300 of them and that is why they were asking $1250. Is this legitimate or a salesmans ploy to push a sale?

I have a definitive interest but am not ready to jump if it is foolish to spend that kind of cash for a gun that might not be worth it. It is in 98-99% condition and has the factory box and spare magazine.

Even if it is an unfair price, can you provide information on this gun? I can not seem to find much of anything on this elusive piece. That or my search skills are slipping.

Thanks in advance!

.45 CQB

Lots of info on the forum about these. I owned both the stainless and 2 tone alloy framed version. They are great .45's if your looking for an all steel, non 1911 .45. Once you get the trigger down they are accurate as heck. They are also flawlessly reliable pistols.
As for the price, long since discontinued, PC, and nothing like them out there any more, i wouldn't hesitate.

Just as production was ending on these years ago, about '98 or so IIRC, I bought the all black alloy-framed version. I carried it 40+ hours a week for about a year and a half. It was, and is,very accurate and has NEVER malfunctioned in any way, shape or form with any kind of ammo used. Shortly after purchasing the alloy gun, I started looking for the all-stainless version. I searched high and low before finding a NIB one at a dealer out of state. My all-stainless has been fired very little, still LNIB, but has not malfunctioned. My SCSW indicates 100 stainless, 100 all black and 200 two tone alloy were produced. The barrel/slide/frame fit and machine work on these guns is exceptional, comparable in every way to the SIG P-210s I have owned. These guns are way more than a customized factory production gun. The PC starts with the raw forgings and goes from there. I have a couple of old magazines around here someplace with articles on the CQBs.

I am a 1911 guy, but these guns are exceptional. I still have both of mine. Were I looking for an all-stainless, and found an excellent example, I would pay the $1250...

Thanks cometpx4 and Rock185, more info than I could find.

It sounds like I should grab her.
I love shooting for accuracy and I eyeballed this gun just for that purpose. I am not the safe queen type, but it almost sound as if I should run it sparingly due to its rarity. However it would be tough not to put her through the paces at the range.

What do you folks think, snatch it up and enjoy it for its rarity or fire away with extra care?
Anyone else with pics and input fire away!

I own one and I would not hesitate to buy another (if I had the cash). It is the same size as the 4566 but with everything hand-fit, polished, Briley bushing, match-grade barrel and beautiful front strap checkering, honed action. I use Remington's 185+p Golden Saber in the gun and it feels like firing a full-power 10mm. Compared to a 4566 or standard production gun, there is no question that it is worth it, and it will (most-likely) last you a lifetime, and then some. It is decock only. If you release the thumb safety lever, a spring re-sets the safety to the fire position. It does retain the magazine safety system.
You will not be sorry, if you buy one.

Buy it, enjoy it and take care of it. I've read about these before and if I ever come across a stainless version I will buy it. I have my eyes set on a 9 Recon that I came across, a rare PC 9mm. If you enjoy .45s like I do, go ahead and jump on that.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyy to high for a used gun.

However consider one of the best if not the best match fitted DA first shot traditional semi auto suited for duty, ccw or competition where legal.

It is not a 4.25" like the 4566. Its a 4" so holsters will have .25" of slack. No biggy unless that bothers you.

I carried one on duty and these were the negatives based on my opinion.

Needs dehorn job for fast handling to minimize abrasions. Factory grips wayyyy to slippery if hands get wet. I put grip tape and painted with grit paint to improve. Needed an integral accessory rail to make a true combat weapon, but this would have made it expensive for a custom jobber holster.

Throw 900 in their direction and see if they bite.

CQB 45

I stand corrected on the size of the gun being the same size as the 4566.

The frame and slide might have some minor dimensional differenc es between standard 3rd gen, tsw but will work in those holsters.

Nice pistols. If made by Wilson or any other "custom shop" they would be $2K pistols, IMO.

I've got an all black aluminum framed 45 CQB. It is a very light weight accurate 45. If I saw that stainless 45 CQB for $1200 I would own it. If you decide to pass, please PM me the shops info.

Great 45's loaded with custom features. Regards 18DAI

I got it.

Sweet gun I can't wait to shoot it! There is a little problem....there was a Shorty Forty MK3 next to it at the shop.
I think I need to bring it home to keep the CQB and the PC627 company. Damn you Performance Center!

Hell of a trigger in both SA and DA, very impressed.

You will not be sorry. When you disassemble the gun for cleaning, be patient about removing/re-installing the barrel from the Briley bushing. She is a little snug.

Now buy some Remington Golden Saber 185+p rounds and let her rip!

you might want to stock a recoil spring or two.

remember, this is a 4" 45acp and the recoil spring is not a regular item (4566/4563). give them your serial number and say its a PC CQB and requires a special recoil spring from the Performance Center.

as a test some years ago, I used a 4566 wolf recoil spring that was cut down and in 500 rounds, its length shortened considerably.

nice piece.

Nice, I have never seen or shot one of these before. Let us know how the first trip to the range goes!!!

Congrats!!!!!

USMC, you got a nice one. That thing looks brand new...

Thanks! You're right it is pretty damn close to new. It is a beauty, should I post more pics?

I am no S&W expert and consider myself a student but the plastic box seems cheap for a PC gun.
It is black plastic and has the maker "Doskocil" on the lid and a PC label on top and a small sticker that says Contains Master Lock Trigger Lock.
The side has the factory build sticker and the bottom has a label that says SGL HANDGUN SP ED.

The box looks generic and has no S&W markings other than the stickers. Would this appear correct to the pros?
