Has anyone seen one of these before? All the resources I've checked describe this pistol as having a grip pin that you drive out to get the grips off.

My gun (bought used; police trade-in) has slotted grip screws. I'm attaching a couple of images. Sorry about the bad focus. My camera has eyes like mine.

They really are slotted screw and I have taken them out and I would think the grips should come off -- but they won't. At least, not without my using more effort than I think is safe before I know the proper way to take them off.

FWIW, the grips are wraparound with plastic or nylon inserts that mate with the windows in the grip frame.

I don't mind a slight mystery about the pistol, but I DO mind not being able to take the grips off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

JP

Those are Hogue grips. That's the way you mount them. Pull off the grip panels and you'll see a plastic part that captures the hammer spring and cup. That part is held in by the pin you would see if you has the stock grips on it. Remove the screws and if needed, put a flathead screw driver between the grip panel and frame, behind the mag well. A little twist and the grip panel will pop off.

absolutely

Thanks boingboing. Exactly right. I've taken the grips off and put them back on, no problem. That tip about twisting w/the screwdriver blade behind the mag well is a great help.
many thanks...
