4506 Barrel

Every once in a while there's a revision for a part available in the company's in-house computers which may not be listed in the online (or hardcopy) Parts Lists.

I've had this happen with parts on a number of occasions. I've called and ordered a part using the appropriate part number from the parts list and the friendly person on the customer service line told me to wait while they checked something in their computer.

Sometimes I was told there was a new revision.

Other times I was asked for the age of the gun or the serial number because of a change that had occurred in the production of some guns during certain times periods which affected the particular part I was ordering.

Once it was recommended that I even try a different extractor spring in a specific pistol because of a change in the slide mass during a certain time period (determined by the serial number of that gun).

Just saying it might not hurt to call and ask them to make sure nothing has changed in regard to the barrel revision you might need in your 4506-1. Barrels are one of the more expensive parts.

Fastbolt,

Good point. To expand of that, I ordered two barrels for my 4506 on the phone from S & W. They sent me two drawbars (wide ones). I called them and they were apologetic, and promptly sent me out two more drawbars, (narrow ones, not sure which is right?). Both packages had 235620000 handwritten on them, which S & W still maintains is the correct number for the barrels. Anyhow, I called a third time and they said I could keep the drawbars and they promised make it right and send three 4506 barrels.

By no means do I mean to slander or make fun of S & W. I respect them as a company and an icon. As a business owner, I understand business problems. I just hope I get the right barrels before they run out. If I’m not mistaken, I believe the Customer Service Rep said that they were not being produced anymore.
