I just picked up a 4506 at a local gun show and it has a problem feeding. When the slide is locked back and a full mag is put in, it doesn't feed FMJ and with JHP the first feeds but also partially pulls out the next round. when I load 7 in the mag instead of 8, it works better. The mags are S&W and I polished the feed ramp prior to shooting.

Any thoughts?.....

Well...my brother tried to tighten the dog ear sights and screwed the pooch. He lost the pins and now it's gonna be off to S&W. I'll have the feed problem looked at as well...

Speaker magnet the whole area. Sweep the floor the use speaker magnet on the pile. It's worked out for me on more than one occasion. Good luck.

Those pins do like to take off. Look on the bright side, it will never happen to your brother again. 3 pins taking off in 3 different directions is something he won't forget. Good luck with S&W.

Any chance you cleaned the mags and installed the springs backwards?
I used to win bets, that I could cycle 8 spent shells without a hang-up. Never lost a bet.
Keep us updated. The 4506 is my favorite gun in the world. If yours is not perfect, I really want to know why.

**UPDATE**

Got my 4506 back today and the feed problem was a combination on a weak recoil spring and lack of care by the previous owner. New spring and rails polished as well as the feed ramp and the area directly above the feed ramp and she runs like a 4506 should. Yes...now she cycles empty casings...

What did they charge you for that, I have a 4506 that has trigger issues. I wanted to try to fix it myself, but if they are reasonable, I will have them fix it.

I would have guess weak magazine springs...I have solved that problem in the past that way...never have done the polish thing....
