I took my "new" 4506-1 to range after work. My wife picked me up and we spent almost 2 hours throwing lead. She had a new Beretta 21A .22 and I had the 4506 to try out. It shoots awesome. It is tight, smooth with a great trigger. It shot right where I aimed it... I really like it and was not sorry I traded my M&P for it. My wife shot it too. When she picked it up she said it was heavy... but when she finished shooting 2 mags she was impressed..with her shooting:) and the lack of recoil. She thought it kicked less than her 9mm CCW, Ruger SR9C. She had fun plinking with her Beretta too. I also took my 5906 I bought week before last and model 19-4, 2.5", .357. The 5906 is a tack driver. So is the Model 19. What a great set of weapons. Beretta .22lr and 3 Smith's: the 5906 9mm, the Model 19 .357 and the always impressive 4506 .45ACP.
It was a great end to my work day:D Mike

Ahhh yes, Smith & Wesson 3rd Gens. The single best line of guns to ever be discontinued. And right up there at the top of the list when compared to guns currently in production. Enjoy those Smiths!

Sounds like a great way to end the day!

I have a 5906, 4506 and a few 2nd Gens as well. All great guns, and although the 5906 and 4506 are more refined in every way, the machining, fit and finish of any S&W auto are uniformly superb.

I'd put my 4506 up against any. 45 ever made. Mine has such a great trigger and feel it nearly shoots itself. Best handgun I've ever owned, and I've owned my fair share of nice guns over the years.

Congrats on your purchase-they truly don't make 'em like that anymore!

Best,

Heekma

Congrats on your 4506-1! :)

Yep, those guns will shoot to point of aim. Mine are all tack drivers. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI

Congratulations on a set of fine hardware. I only have a few, but boy, they are some of my favorite pistol.

I have a 4506-1, it feed anything and everything, including cast flat points, conicals and semi wad cutters, not may guns can say that...........except my Hk45,
The only problem i have with the 4506 is the ugly factory grips, ive tried some hogues but the feel bulky, think im gonna fit some ebony wood on it, maybe even a little checkering
