I lucked into a LNIB 4513TSW today. I had one of these for years. Loved it. Like a 3913 on steroids. Had to let it go due to sorry circumstances three years back.

This is the first 4513TSW version, made without that idiotic rail. Six round mag with the cut out grip.

Light weight and thin, it doesn't get any better than that in a concealable tiny 45.......unless the CS45 fits your hand. ;)

It will be here in two weeks. I can't wait to shoot it. Original box and three mags. Serial prefix TCP. Anyone have a SCSW handy for a birthdate look up? Thanks! Regards 18DAI.

Congrats!

I know you mentioned quite awhile ago you were looking.

Is this for carrying or polishing??

Lad

Off duty carry. After next qualification, I can retire my well worn 3913 - for a well deserved rest! Regards 18DAI.

Congrats.

I bought a new one back when the original 4513TSW was first released. It's always been a fine compact, lightweight .45 pistol.

I modified some Hogue grips to fit mine (and one for a friend).

Mine is above the newer production issued 4513TSW I carried for a few years.

You'll notice the older models had the downward & forward angled machined slot for the ambi lever for disassembly, while the newer slides were made without the machined slot. This was evident through out the rest of the .45 model line, to my knowledge, as the newer production 4566TSW's also lack the slot. I had to have the PC hand file a slot in the slide of my CS45 when I had it modified to accept the spring-loaded, decock-only ambi assembly many years ago.

Thanks Fastbolt!!

I'm expecting delivery in about two weeks. I'm going to have some grips like yours done up for it. After consulting, I'll provide more details on that aspect.

I use the Hogues on my 4516, 457, and Shorty 45. It makes those pistols fit my hand perfectly.

Can't wait to get my hands on the 4513 again. It will keep wear and tear off my Shorty 45 too!! Best regards, 18DAI.

Yeah, I could have been a bit more 'precise' when I cut the material off the Hogues. I was going for a working gun and not a pretty gun, though.

One thing to watch out for is that a number of the Hogue grips for the 3rd gen .45's have included mainspring bases which stick down below the bottom of the grips, instead of being flush. I don't know what's up with that. Not really an issue with the newer 7-rd guns, but it could be with the flush mags on the original 6-rd guns. I've thought of calling back and asking if they're using more than one base for their S&W .45 grips.

Short Grip...

Compared to the 4516, 457, & Shorty 45, the shorter grip & "hanging pinky" doesn't bother you?

Congratulations on your expected new edition!

I thought you were a monogamous DAO-guy but I suppose variety is the spice of life.

I've had one 4513 on my gotta have list for way too long. Does yours have a sister? I'd also go bonkers if I could find a CS45 that did not cost $600 plus.

Way to go on yours; I'm so envious. Film at 11 when you get it.

Depends on the size of your hand and/or whether you mind having to curl your little finger underneath the mag (like on the subcompact 9/40 Glocks).

I find the curved grip to work well on both the original 4513TSW and the CS45 for my hands, which are mostly medium-sized, despite what some glove makers seem to think about my hands really being large.

Personally, I find the palm swell style Hogues designed for the CS series to really fit my hand, and how I happen to place my little finger doesn't bother me one way or the other.

I found a 4513 at a local "big box" sporting goods store a few days ago. Used, but in excellent condition - just one magazine. What surprised me was the price: $449. I was expecting to see something like $599 at a store such as that. Have to admit, I am unfamiliar with the "priceage" of most Smiths these days. What do you guys think...should I "do it"?

Sorry Laddy, it's not arrived as my new FFL dropped the ball. May be here Saturday.

As you may know I've neither the technical expertise nor mechanical ability to post pics.

The former herself had a far more talented divorce attorney than I and got the cameras. ;) Regards 18DAI.

Okay--I get your hint. I'll help you out.

Send me the gun and say 4 or 5 hundred rounds of ammo and I will take some pics for you.

It's a big sacrifice but I will do it for you. :p

*sigh*.....4513 is one of the few guns I've sold/traded that I truly truly regret having let go.
