I have a 4516-1 that will not feed reliably Speer's 230 gr Gold Dot ammo for some reason. It does pretty good with Federal HST's but all of this has gotten expensive if you can even find it anymore so, I haven't really rung it out but have put three boxes of GDHP's through it with several feed failures.

My 4506 has never failed with any style or shaped bullet from 200 gr SWC to the Flying Ashtray. What could be wrong with it's smaller brother?

If you've had the gun for awhile I would suggest replacing the recoil spring with new OEM ones, or slightly heavier aftermarket springs. I believe Wolff makes a pack that contains the inner spring, the 15lb factory spring and three additional heavier springs......17, 19 and 21 lbs. You may find a heavier recoil spring set will help those particular rounds feed more reliably.
Also make sure the gun is as clean as possible and properly lubricated, and that your using the proper grip.

If your 4516-1 has a single recoil spring I would suggest contacting the factory about conversion to the two recoils. You can do a search for more information on this forum.

It has only one recoil spring and it's from Wolff and not more than a few hundred rounds through it. You'd have to send the pistol in to S&W for a modification to accept two recoil springs and I don't want to do that. If I'm not mistaken Wolff doesn't make the inner spring and S&W doesn't have the outer spring anymore.

The malfunction is usually a FTRTB issue but sometimes a bolt over base problem.
