i posted a wanted to buy ad here awhile back for a 4516-2, within 5 hours, a member responded with an offer to purchase a rarely shot 4516-2, houge grips, as well as original grips, six mags, and a spurred ss hammer, plus two holsters, I took the offer. Well I finally shot her yesterday and all I can say is WOW, what a sweet shooter. I thought my m&p 45 c was nice, the only way I can describe it was , it was like butter. I can see why people love the 3rd gen pistols. I think I'm in trouble, because I'm thinking about a 5906 and getting rid of some tupperware that I have. Anyway, I put 100 rounds through her with nary a hiccup. Ordered six mag springs which where in stock at brownells and an inner and outer recoil spring, which is back ordered. i can't wait to shoot her again!
pics or it didn't happen?

Very nice! Yeah, you're in trouble...sounds like yet another case of 3rd Genitis. When I started here I didn't know what a 3rd Gen was. Now I've got a dozen of them. Enjoy yourself!

Bump...bump...bump... another one bites the dust...

Yeah... you're doomed, just like the rest of us that have fallen into the same 3rd Gen fly trap

Man... a 4516-2, good way to start off... congrats.

thanks, i have a bunch of nines, this is my second 45. first 3rd gen though.

I'm starting to look at a 5906, 1006, 1066, and 1076. I think I'll be in the doghouse with the rest of you guys. I'll bring a case of beer.:D

I've got the TSW variant of the 5906. Great pistol. I'v never been able to find a ten that I could afford. Since compacts are what usually do it for me, I would want a 1066. One of these days...

the 10mm are pricey. the 5906 is within range. i have a shield and a pps that i rotate as my edc for warm weather, which i'll be keeping. i haven't decided on what to sell yet. if i keep buying, i'll need to turn one of my rooms into a vault. i don't think the wife would appreciate that.

Just as an aside, I just saw a 1066 on GB its at $810 w/3 mags, not cheap but given some recent prices I've seen worth considering. I'd bid myself but I've squandered my gun allowance on rifles lately. I'd love to have a lil brother for my 1006. Of course that wouldn't end my 3rd gen quest.

The 4516 is a great gun. I had one years ago, I think I could have loaded the mag wth gravel & it would have functioned. I sold it to a friend because I found it way to heavy to comfortably carry concealed, & bought a 3" alloy framed 1911 instead. I'm still satisfied I made the right choice, but the 4516 still has a soft spot with me.

I really like the couple compacts (4516-1 & 4013) I've picked up recently. They just feel good in my hand & I shoot them well. The last time I went to the range I took my 4006 & 4013 and fired 1/2 my various ammo in one, then the other. The groups in the compact were as good & better in most cases.

Did you get the box with yours? I wonder if the spurred hammer was added later or original? Any idea when it was made?

Happy shooting!

Yes, however the problem then becomes with 10xxs ( as with all 3rd gens ) is that if you get a really nice one, then you need a shooter, then you end up with multiples , then you find yourself searching everywhere and when you see one for a good price you cannot pass it up, so you justify, and then you end up with another, and another,............Ugh!

I have a few as well. 5946, 1026, 4506, 4566. Had some that I sold as well. Sold 4506, 5946, 4006, 4006tsw rail, 4586tsw rail.

Now I'm looking at a 4516-1 but not sure if I should. The grip is to short and I need something thicker on it to at least take up more width room to compensate for the shortness. I'm just not sure if that will help and don't want to spend $500 to find out it doesn't

Didn't I see you at the 3rd Genitis Clinic? Of course, the other fun thing about getting a ten millimeter would be trying to find ammo for it! Ammo is starting to be more plentiful around here but I don't think I've ever seen 10m. on the shelves, even before the shortage.

Once you've gotten solid with 10mm, you start a slow & gentle switch
which turns you into Sledge Hammer ;)

Congrats on the 4516-3 ReluctantHero! :)

Arik try some Hogue rubber grips on the 4516. Makes it a whole different animal to hold and shoot. Regards 18DAI
