Inflation
I bought my Model 457 in 2005 for a new retail price of $499.00.
The inflation calculator tells me that today it would cost $786.
The rifle I traded in on the deal, which was given to me free, sells on GB for about $800 these days. I would do this same deal today. The 457, is a daily companion and I have learned to shoot it very well. I recommend it and/or the 4516 to everyone.
I remember buying hamburgers from Burger Chef for 13 cents each. The cheeseburgers were several pennies more. At that same time, the Gulf station and the Sinclair station got into a "gas war" and Gulf got down to 13 cents a gallon. Since inflation has been such a consistent part of our lives all our lives, I really cannot relate to what you are telling me in this post without the year given.I remember my brother wanted a S&W Model 25, one dealer had one with a scratched side plate for $350, he was almost ready to buy when i came back and said follow me, Two aisles over guy had a 25 in the presentation case for $250. Even the last Model 28 Highway patrol turn in i got for $175, at some point prices went crazy, it went from a piece of your paycheck to better make installments
