Ok, I got a 4566 and a set of grips to put on, but for the life of me I can't get the old ones off. Any help here???

Simple. Use a punch to puch out the pin in the bottom of the grip. You might need to use a mallet to punch it out. Then, if you look at the bottom of the grips, right where the mag goes in, you will see a hole. Use a punch (A fatter one than the one you used to knock out the pin works best for me)., and insert it into that hole. There's a cap in there that is connected to a spring. Press down on that cap (so it's going towards the slide) while gently spreading the bottom of the grips apart and swiveling them towards the back of the gun, until the bottom clears the base. Then rock it out. If you're switching to Hogue's, the new grips will come with a strut that locks that cup and spring in, so all you do is unscrew them to take the off. The stock grips are stronger than you think. I've yet to crack one. Check out youtube, they'll have videos. Any 3rd generation gun will do. I think there's a good one for a 4506, that shows a detail strip, including the grip removal.

I can't find the previous threads where these things were posted:

Replacing the grips does require some attention and care, though, as it's possible to tweak or otherwise damage/bend the side plate under the grip panel on the left side of the frame. Also, unless the grip is fully seated forward under the tang at the rear of the frame, the grip can be left out of place just enough to prevent fully lowering the safety/decocking levers and decocking the gun.

Normal placement and lever function:

Here's what it looks like when the grips aren't fully seated forward:
