The 4566 was in good shape when I purchased the pistol. Typical things wrong with her. Broken trigger play spring, internals filthy, nicks around the trigger guard from a trigger lock. The mags had the springs in backwards. Since I like the 4566 and this one will be a keeper. I fixed everything that needed attention. While I had her apart I refinished the frame and replaced all the springs. Took her out to the range and she worked as advertised.

Thanks to the classified area on the forum. I was able to locate and purchase the parts I needed to fix up the 4566. S&W has the parts but I'm on back order. At least one day I'll have some spare parts.

Thank You to everyone that supplied the needed parts.

my 4566 had a broken trigger play spring and the great guys on this forum helped me get her up and running.she shot great.nice looking 4566 you have there.

Beautiful 4566! Congrats! :) Regards 18DAI.

Thanks Everyone
All it took is a little elbow grease and some parts. Today I installed the curved back S&W grip, filled in the red dots with some paint. Good enough for my needs. I like the hogues in hand and for shooting. Since I'm going to carry this one, for iwb carry the original type grips suit my needs better.

nice work.I passed on one awhile back that was nearly unfired and wished Id jumped on it.

Congrats on a fine auto.

My 4566 needs a new trigger play spring too, but that's not something I want to do myself.

Mine had the Hogue palm swell grips but I found the factory stright grips fit my hand better. My new 6906 has the palm swell but it's smaller grip is okay in my hand.

Hope you enjoy your 4566 as much as I've enjoyed mine!

As an LEO in Georgia, our agency issued the 4506-1, and I really loved that brick on the hip. Not to beat up the 4506-1, I still feal the the 4566 has a differing balance, for the good, as compared to a 4506-1.

I agree the 4566 does balance better in hand. She is not as nose heavy as the 4506's. However I like them both. This one is going to be a carry gun. So for me the edge goes to the 4566. This morning the new grips arrived. I installed them and headed to the range. I needed to function check, some mags I rebuilt. I ran 12 mags through the 4566. I had to take one last picture. Since the 4566 is going to be a carry gun. This is as good as she will ever look. She will have some holster wear in a very short time. Time to let her earn her keep.
