1st, what are you shooting it out of?

Generally speaking aluminum and steel casings are fine for range use in modern handguns. It is very soft steel, however most of it is Russian and it is dirty. Leaves lots if residue behind but it is easy to clean there is just more of it. You cannot reload it so lots of ranges dont allow steel or aluminum. Russians use harder primers so depending on what gun youre using you might need a second strike

Ive shot steel out of just about every type of firearm and in thousands of rounds over many years ive had less then 5 problems.

2nd, get ready to get a whole lotta negative reviews.

Tula steel casing is good range ammo. The only problem I have is that Tula is a bit sticky extracting from my Thunder Ranch 325, even with the moon clips. Wally World has Tula for $15/box which is about as cost effective as you'll find for .45. I don't worry about the extraction at the range, but run higher quality brass case hollow points for non-range carry.

I bought a P220 and the seller gave me 2 boxes of Herters Steel .45 ACP with it. I shot my reloads in it with no problems. I tried to load the steel ammo into the Sig mag and it allowed me to load 3 or 4 rounds before hanging up in the mag. I had to use a mag loader tool to get them to load. They shot OK but I will not buy them in the future. I have not tried them in a 1911 yet. All steel ammo that I have tried shoots dirty and smells bad.

Ive shot Tula in steel in everything from a 1942 Luger P08, 1930s Llama, 1911s, and everything modern!

try to stick with brass cased ammo.
the ultimate savings is found reloading cast bullets. Steel and aluminum cases do not lend to the endeavor.
save up your brass. When you lose count, set up a reloading bench and join the fun.

I would personally never shoot steel cases in anything but a russian milsurp - designed for it. Brass or the CCI aluminum if not reloading is fine and shoots well for me.

I've shot a few boxes of the steel .45acp, and some of the CCI aluminum, but I much prefer brass. If you shop carefully, S&B, PMC or CCI Blazer Brass can be had for the same price.

The only recent manufacture steel case ammo I have fired is Tularm 9mm Luger, perfect performance from four boxes. Also, no complaints about CCI Blazer in 9mm, Regarding .45 ACP, I have fired thousands of rounds of WWII Evansville ball which is steel cased. It always worked fine in a M1911, but fired cases tend to stick in revolver chambers, sometimes quite tightly. I don't know if that is a problem with recent steel case .45 ACP.
