I LOVE my Shield 9mm that I just got (using it as my carry). I now want to get something that has some umph to it, so I started looking at the 45C. In doing some reading it seems like it's an awesome gun but it does need the apex trigger kit.. I just wanted to get some general opinions of the 45c with and without the trigger mod. BTW, these feel so much better in your hand than an XDm :p

I love my 45c...I call it my "fat Shield".

I say get one!

Mine has the Apex kit...as much as I love the M&P line, I wouldn't have one without the Apex kit.

I did exactly what you're doing now. Bought the Shield 9mm and love it but wanted something with more umph for New England winter carry.
Bought the 45c but had to get the trigger done. First because in Massachusetts we're burden by the minimum 10 lb. trigger requirement and the 45c was 12 lbs. It was also gritty and had quite a bit of take up. All fixed by a master gunsmith.
Love the 45c, great size and great carry. I also bought some 10 round mags with the xgrip extension for home defense.

I love my 45c and highly recommend it. I'm more accurate with it than my 40 or 9 Shield. The trigger feels great to me but I've never shot one with an Apex trigger job.

I had a 45c a few years ago that I let a friend trade me out of,it was a great pistol.
Two weeks ago I stopped at a local gun store and found a new 45c on the shelf, handeled it and bought it. This one does't need any trigger work,is very accurate and I love it.
It is nice to have one back!

awesome thanks everyone!! On a side note, I saw someone mention a gunsmith for the trigger.. Would you recommend going that route or getting the Apex kit??

I've gone both routes. My M&P45FS has a Burwell trigger job and my one 45C went back to S&W for their performance package. The burwell job is good, assuming you can get in touch with him. The S&W performance package was okay, but IMHO not worth the money. I ended up putting an Apex sear in it. My other 45C is Apexed. If I had to start all over, I would apex them all and not spend the money and time to have someone else do it.

I bought my 45C new and after I put a few hundred rounds through it, decided I didn't need to spend any money on aftermarket hot rod parts.

Keep an open mind.

Love my 45c. I put an Apex Duty/Carry kit in mine. Watched the Apex video with Mr.Lee.

I just picked up a 45c a few weeks ago. It's a sweet shooter, no question.
Last night I installed an Apex DCEK kit and a set of Ameriglo Bowie night sights. It's definitely going in the carry rotation with my 9c.

I have the FS .45 no problems with the factory trigger, S&W makes a C slide, with a full frame that I'm looking for.

I love my 45 Compact....my only M&P. It's been very reliable through the first 300 rounds, and with the Truglo night sights, makes a great carry gun. It's pretty much the same size as the Glock 19, with 9 rounds of .45ACP. It even fits my G19 IWB holster.

Get the 45c you won't regret it. Just be prepared to go apex or trigger job. For some reason these come with heavier triggers than the 9&40's. It's my favorite handgun. All my 9c holsters also work with it. I wish they made a 9mm this size.

As you can tell from my name I am basically a 1911 guy, but after facing the frustration of living with smaller lighter 1911s that were not reliable, I bought my 45C. I had a trigger job done and installed some Warren Tactical plain rear with tritium fronts, and it turned into a great CCW. Carried in a CTAC MTAC it makes a super rig. I have never experienced a FTF or FTE with this gun. It eats all ammo I have tried, and I can shoot it very well. Great gun.
