45c safety removal?

Beware, it is a spring AND detent, but if you lift the block out easily, they should stay intact. I removed them also as part of the "set". The block on the left is what it looks like in place. The pieces are under the left side of the lever as you remove it, you will see the detent and spring. (sorry for the smaller picture). I thought I had a better one.

As stated, it's a simple job, but be aware that there is a small plunger in the trigger housing block that needs to come out, too. It just lfts out, and may come out on its own.

When I called, I had my credit card in my hand. It was gonna be like $12.00 plus shipping. No problem. I offered to pay and he said no go, just give me the address and we will send them out!

I called Smith and they will send out a set free of charge. What a great company, and it's American!

Thanks Scatter !! Didn't know about the detent and spring part.. just took it out though.. The spring launched itself, but I found it !! Lucky me !!

The thumb safety didn't work out for me so I removed it and called S&W and they sent some plugs at no cost.

I am so glad I found this thread. I bought my M@P45 with the safety because that was all that was available at the time that I bought mine and any gun was hard to find. I removed the safety last night, piece of cake. Now in the process to get the plugs. What a great forum!

I sent S&W an Email requesting the Plugs for my just removed safety lever and got a response back that a no charge order had been place and I should expect them in a few days. What great service. No phone call needed as others had been required to do. I'm a little surprised that they condone the owners of their guns making modifications like this by making the plugs available and for free. I know it is a pretty simple modification but still a little surprised.

You got lucky with whomever answered your email. ;)
I imagine they have no problem sending out the parts because the gun is now made to go either with or without safety.

Got mine back from my gunsmith today after he installed the Apex FSS and removed the safety. I just didn't feel comfortable messing with the trigger, so had him do both since he also did the FSS on my full size 9. He said the allen screw on the rear sight was a real pain to get off. It was easily worth the $35 he charged me to do both trigger and safety removal....

Nevadadad,

Do you want to sell the trigger lever that you had removed?

Sorry, but I would like to hang on to it in case I ever sell the gun and the new owner would like to have it. I'm betting if you give Smith a call or email, they would send you one pretty cheap.
