I have a new 460 performance center revolver. It has the 8.23" barrel and the factory rail. I found the ladder notches in the rail are smaller than normal. I want to put a trijicon MRO 1X25 ADJ red dot on it but the bolts won't fit inside the rail. Any suggestions?

That sounds strange. Perhaps you should look at a different mount.

Short of that, the problem is correctable, but would either require enlarging the grooves or having the shafts of the screws turned thinner on a lathe.

I had the same problem with the rail on a Russian Target Pistol. The slot was too narrow. I just took my 6" file (with one blind edge), and enlarged the slot until the scope would fit. It didn't take much.

I suspect revolver_ph got it right. Weaver slots are smaller than picatinny. You likely have a picatinny mount.

Can anyone confirm that integrated rails on the x-frames are weaver spec?

Solution #2... use a Weaver mount and save the others for something with a picatinny rail.

I just want to say Weaver Detachable Top Mount Rings - the Standard Version , may look old fashioned but you will never hear of them coming loose on a heavy recoiling gun....they will hang onto a optic .
If the rail is set up for Weaver's mounts then I would go with Weaver, this is one product that still works . The 460 will punish lesser rings .

All I can say is that if you want to shoot heavy loads, you'd better be sure the red dot can take it.

It took only a cylinder full of mid heavy rounds out of my 500 Mag to trash a Bushnell TRS-25 (not sure "TRS" is correct). Don

When you say you have the factory rail are you referring to the rail that bolts in place of the factory rear sites? or is the rail integrated on the barrel shroud?

The integrated mount on the shrouds are Weaver mount.
The bolt on mount has been available in both mount configurations from aftermarket sources.

Red dot with Picatinny mounts are typically intended for use on military type rifles and my not stand up to the recoil produced by X-frame handguns- make sure you understand the manufactures warranty.

A Vortex Razor should work regardless but they're not inexpensive AND they're guaranteed for life I believe.

Not saying you're wrong, I'll just say that Bushnell said that the TRS-25 my 500 destroyed was tested with 3.5" 12 ga rounds.

3.5" Mags are not wimps but I suspect that the 500 has a different "character" or type of recoil. Don

Just trying to figure out what 500 gun you were shooting. Was it a cylinder gun or a 12ga.?

Anyhow the trs25 is a budget red dot and I wouldnt think it would last 2 rounds off an xframe. My nikon with 3 weaver rings still walked.
