460 mild load for 460 cases

Archangle. If you got some to spare. Send it up to Alaska. The whole state recieve 1 lb in 1 year.
Closes I have is 2400

BlueDot, that's why I said "max charge" in my post. I have safely don't this and it's perfectly safe.

I was agreeing with you, because the pressure will be lower in the larger case, and safe.

However, what I (vaguely) eluded to concerned "a max charge meant for the 45 Colt in the 460 brass". Using the max charge listed for a Ruger Only 45 Colt load would be preferable to using the max load for a SAA 45 Colt. The much lighter SAA load, in the 460 case, might cause a squib or stuck bullet in the barrel.

I think these are over your 1200 fps goal. 29.5gr/2400 is a max load (1697fps) in 454C with a 240gr JHP @ 54K CUP (Lyman #49). Pressure will be less in the 33% larger 460 case. Better to start low & work up.

Hey. Got to thinking. In the 460. 2400 should never exceeded the max pressure. So I grabbed up these loads I made up and went down the beach to try
Shot one of each starting at 28.5
No pressure problems
Next shot was a factory round 200 g
The 2400 sounded the same but about 20 to 25% less kick
Then shot the rest of them
The 29.8 was real close to the 200 factory rounds
30.6. The cases was dirty
Not a black suet dirty. A light grey like it was burning clean
No leading problems. And yeh I bet those Colorado cast bullets was at there max
