Just came across a 460ES kit that is complete, I've seen others before but they were all missing some items.
Are they a desirable/collectable item today?
What is the going price for them?

If you want one then it is desirable.

Going price is whatever you and the seller agree on.

Pretty cool for sure...as is the 500es.Prices seem to be all over the place however

Pretty cool little kit in my opinion. Prices are definitely all over the place but seem pretty high lately. There's one on an internet auction site right now for $2,800 starting price with buy it now at $3,100.

Personally I'd rather buy a normal one and get a nice Pelican case for it for half the price.

That snubby little nose just makes me smile

Obviously the prior posters don't like them or think so but I say yes.

Just another one of S&W's unique & quirky models that many people like. Any complete ES kit I consider collectable & desirable.

I bought a used 500ES kit, complete & in excellent condition, for basically what it's MSRP was originally. I'd never pay the often double asking prices seen but then I don't have unlimited funds either.

And since I reload & I'm not a long range shorter anymore I just find the short barrel a blast.

You win the prize for least helpful answer ever given on this site. Congrats.

To the OP, they tend to go around 1500-2000 on auction sites depending on current bidding demand. The 500es kits go for a premium over the 460es.

Myself, I like the firearms and I think the kits are very cute. I wish I had bought them when they came out

However for me, these days I can not justify the premium that a full kit is bringing over just the revolver itself

About 6 months ago My LGS got in two 500 ES, just the guns, consecutive serial numbers and I wanted to buy one but he wouldn’t sell them separate. Guns were NIB. The pair fetched like $3200 on gunbroker. I was gonna offer him $1200 for one, he’s glad he didn’t take it
