I've had to change my story on HI Points. I used to say there was one fellow who shot his Hi Point at our club regularly who had no trouble with it, even though everybody else who shot them much did have trouble.

However, in November, a thumb sized piece broke off the slide and various parts came out of his Hi Point. The company replaced the entire slide assembly for free, but now it jams at least once on each magazine.

I sold him a used S&W and he is delighted with it.

The Hi-Point is a serviceable gun for what it is, but it is not in the same class as a S&W 2nd Gen. I have to believe he is just proud of his new gun and the low price he paid. Tell your friend to shoot his Hi-Point regularly for 20-25 years then compare them.

I've shot the High Point 9mm as well as the 469.

Bet heavy on your 469 and take a lot of your "friends" money.

The 469 is a fine, accurate and reliable pistol. The only thing the High Point has in common with the 469 is that it is chambered in 9mm.

With your winnings buy more ammo!! Regards 18DAI.

Is he serious or just stupid? A low point isn't even remotely close to a Smith auto, take lot's of money from this fool before he wises up!

A Yugo and a Cadillac are both cars but the Yugo comes up lacking in features, longevity and looks.

Same with a Hi Point. I know Smith & Wesson and a Smith and Wesson it ain't.

I would not waste my money on a Hi Point.

How come I've never heard of the HiPoint Collectors Association or the Standard Catalogue of Hi Point? What is their forum address?

I have to wonder where some folks get their information from. A Hi Point? Come on. Not much else I can say on the subject.

lol hi point and s+w do not belong in the same sentence together!

Hi Point pistols are for people who want something cheap to stick in the sock drawer.......it's something that will fire a couple times and then probably jam. It will fire, and do the job for CC or HD on a tight budget, but these are not something for anyone who plans to do any amount of real shooting.

I wouldn't fault anyone for owning one, if someone is strapped financially and all they can get is a Hi Point, I mean, law abiding poor people have something to defend themselves with. When it comes down to being able to pay the rent and settling for a Hi Point, or getting an M&P or a Sig and having the repo man hook your car up.....sometimes there is no choice........ When the crackheads break into their house armed with their Hi Points, well, at least everyone will have matching guns!

I learned the hard way, I bought an Armscor .38 revolver as a cheap glove box gun.......problem was, I made the mistake of actually shooting it.......300 or so rounds later, it went out of time, the hammer took a chunk out of the frame and it skips chambers in DA. I paid $230 for a gun that lasted 300 rounds, because I didn't want to risk losing or damaging one of my "good guns". Now I use a beat up Model 10 as my glove box gun, probably has a zillion rounds through it but at least I know it will work when I need it.

I bet this guy also owns a sport model minivan and thinks he can run with a Vette.

I've got a Hi-Point C-9, 9mm. It's not a Smith & Wesson, but it will do the same job.

I haven't shot it in a long time, but for $139.00 it ain't bad at all. It works.

For what it's worth, I got it back when 9mm ammo was cheap. I put between 1800 and 2000 rounds through it. I had read so much about them on the net I wanted see just how bad they were. Out of that count, I had a total of six "jams." Out of those six, four of them came out of one box of "range reloads." That silly, ugly thing just chugged along. I couldn't see where I shot much worse with it than I do anything else. Right now, it's back in it's box, in my safe. I got bored with it, and I got a lot of other guns that I like to shoot more, but I'll hold onto it. One of these days I may need to hand it out to someone when the Zombies or the Blue Helmets come after us.

Well, I will say the Property room at the local police station is full of Hi Points taken from the gang members on the streets and from the felons that have to buy guns cheap since they are going to be taken away sooner or later.

I think some of you fellas might be missing the art of the gamble. How good is your friend with his gun compared to you with your gun? There is a young guy at my range who does pretty good with his high point. He beats plenty of guys with more expensive guns. I work with a guy who lost a few dollars shooting sporting clays with a fella shooting a 20 gauge mossberg pump. My friend was using a Browning o/u. A lot of time performance is more about the guy working the trigger than the actual gun itself.

Thanks for all the support! I knew I could count on the S&W crew! When the weather warms a little bit I will show him what a 469 will do!
