It would have to be an X frame. Even if it was put into in an N frame with a 5 hole cylinder, the gun wouldn't last. The recoil would beat an N frame apart in very short order. I own an F/A 83 in this caliber, so I know whereof I speak. It is an awesome round that can be fit into a smaller gun than the huge X frames, but it would have to be bigger than the N frame.
Actually, if S&W would just shorten the X's frame and cylinder for the .475, that would be awesome for sure.

Have you ever seen a .475 Super Redhawk or some double-action equivalent? Bowen Classic Arms will do them, but I've never heard someone with .475 DA experience.

No, I haven't actually. Most guys want the F/A because they are so strong, and finely made, and they are too. If you haven't ever fired one or owned one you are missing out on a fantastic gun. Even after LOTS of full power rounds, they are as tight as the day they left Freedom Wyoming, and they will stay that way. They are lco a bank vault.
I know Bowen does them, and he will only do them on the SRH because of recoil being so stout. I don't care for the SRH frame as far as looks go. I think a shortened X frame would be very cool. also, I would like to see them with one piece barrels like the older guns. I can't get excited about the way the two piece look either. I wouldn't want the muzzle brake/compensator. Just a 6" barrel and shorter frame/cylinder, and I would be a happy guy.

I've never shot a SA revolver...the grip configuration looks like it would be very unpleasant to shoot stout loads, and apt to muzzle-flip, so I've never pursued it. You're right, though...I really need to experience it.

No doubt the SRH and standard Redhawk's are hell for stout.
The gripframe on an F/A is a thing of beauty. It is about as good a design as one can find for handling such heavy recoil. Single actuions are desined to roll in the hand, alleviating much of the sting. The F/A frame is longer than the Blackhawk's and is quite comfortable to use. If you read all of Bowen's site, you'll find mention of the fact that a DA gripframe will beat your hand to a pulp where the DA hump meets the web of the hand. (At leats it used to say it in there somewhere, I haven't read the entire site in a while).
If you do get to shoot an F/A, you'll be hooked, so be warned.
