I spent the last year and a half looking for a nice 4" 48, which I found at the last Expo Show and now this show produced this 6". The stocks were not numbered to the gun and did not match each other so I installed these nice PC magnas for now. As usual my photographic skills are lacking.

Nice revolver, I, too, have a M48-4 6", really great range gun. Do you plan to leave the trigger stop on yours?

It doesn't get in the way and the screw is pretty tight, so no. Over travel stop will stay. I used to play around with them, knowing all the bad press and all. It was just something to do. The gun won't be used for anything critical.

Thread about the 4" I got at the last show

I have a 1959 M48 4 screw that is close to mint in a box that was originally marked for a 6" M17 and stamped in white letters for the 22 MRF. My revolver is a 2nd month gun and there may have not been any M48 boxes made as yet. It is definitely factory modified. White numbers on bottom match the gun. Big Larry

I just looked at a new model 48-6 classic at my LGS. Is there any reason that I should seek out a an older used one instead of a new one?

I guess the main reason for the interest in the-4 and earlier 48s is no IL, not made on CNC machinery and the 8 3/8" barrel. I just like the older guns like the 48 and 48-1.

I have several older s&w revolvers but this one looked pretty nice, except the wood grips looked almost plastic. Bluing looked deep but yes probably more computer and less human content.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is IL?

IL internal lock, duh. Fortunately my scandium 357 doesn't have that. I've heard they can self lock with 357's but does anyone know if they are they are an issue with heavy 22 mags?

I doubt it. The IL can be disabled. THE PLUG. I did it on my 310 Night Guard because it kicked like a mule with 10mm.
