Straight Model 49, no dash. Serial prefix ACM. When was this one born? I'm thinking about buying it.

TIA

I'm addicted now for sure.

And then there's all those K's and N's! (and I's, L's, break barrels....auto's! Will it ever end?!

swsing, SCS&W shows that serial numbers with the ACM prefix were shipped between January and October, 1983.

To answer you other question, "NO! It will never end"!

Thanks. I'm finding the older ones and the custom ones (Lew Horton) are smoother. Is this just age? Lots-o-dry firing, or were they just made better back then? Seems to me the heyday was 1950-1980 for truly amazing American made steel, Massachussetts skilled labor at it's finest...

Actually, I got the addiction about 1972 when I came home and dad showed us his new 38. He was a traveling salesman who had recently been run off the road by a "car load of hippies". He showed us children the revolver, told us not to bother with it, that he would show us how to shoot it, and he did. He still has that model 10, and I've been hooked ever since.

The model 10 I have a copy of, the leather sheepskin lined rug it lives in though, I cannot find....been looking for one for decades
