If someone is looking for the height for their particular model of S&W revolver, it's not that hard to find the chart with the correct sight blade height. However, I haven't really noticed a lot of good, definitive info on the length differences of the square end older style sights by model and variant and if any differences exist in the new model rounded end sights.

I know that the snub nosed versions of K & L frames had a longer rear sight assembly, both OAL and spacing between screws, though not sure of the definitive measurements. Also not sure of the measurements of the longer barrel models for both those criteria.

What about any J-frame models that had adjustables, if any and how they differ from the other frame sizes? Any difference for N-frame sights, either between models and with regard to the other frame sizes?

As an aside, it would seem that both the model 27 and 28 had unique rear sights, the former being checkered and the latter unribbed and matte. Any other vintage models use matte and checkered sights?
