Picked this up the other day with a few more rifles. Well i bought it as a 4". Then i got to messin with it today and realised its longer but shorter than 6". So i pulled the ruller out and measured. From the face of the cylinder to the end of the barrel is 5". Well my ol buddy Eaglestroker said it was neat and i should post pictures up for comments.

Well here she is. Hope its not a disappointment. :)

Very nice. It has diamond Target stocks, and if they are original to the gun I'd bet the SN has an S prefix. These balance nicely, not too muzzle-light or heavy. Enjoy!

I'm bettin' you find that to be one of the best balanced shooters you ever run across.

I was big on 6" guns until I got a 5" 27 like yours.

Very Nice shooting iron you got there,
Some say the 5" Model 27 balances the best of all,

Wondering if there a screw in the front of the trigger guard face?

I like it! Don't have a 27. but have a 28, 6", no dash. 1960 gun, serial # S2011xx. Never shot a 5 incher, but I bet it is great! Hope you enjoy that 27, as much as I enjoy my 28. Bob

Did you by chance pick that up last Saturday at the gun show Joe? I think I saw that gun there or either it was one just like it. Thats a sweet shooter you got.

HEY JOE! THAT IS A NICE LOOKING 27! FOR YOUR IMFORMATION THE 5 INCH MODEL 27 IS WHAT THE MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY SAFETY PATROL ORGINALLY CARRIED WHEN IT STARTED UP! GREAT SHOOTING HANDGUN!

Thanks yall. I bought this from an individual. Not gunshow.

Thanks for that info scott500. Wish it had their markings on it.

Opps. Yes. S prefix. Only numbers i see on inside of grips are a very faded "30"

I can't tell from the pictures if it's a 3 screw or a 4 screw, is there one in the front of the trigger guard? It looks to be in nice shape. Is it marked inside the cylinder frame a 27-something?

I think the 5 inch 27-2 is the best balanced N frame.
