I have heard the legends and see one picture of a limited run of 686Ps from 2004 that featured half-lug, 5" barrels. Has anyone encountered these in the wild? Does anyone know who the distributor was and how many were made?

This looks like the holy grail of an all-around revolver to me and I won't rest until I find one!

They were a "Stocking Dealer Special", the barrel was slightly larger so the balance was about the same as the 5" full lug guns. Fiber optic front and "V" notch rear, Ahrends finger groove grips. At least 1500 made, they pop up every now and then.

I have heard of them but never seen one in real life,
I also prefer the half lug over the full lug but more of a 4" fan,
I found a 4" 686 Mountain gun about a year ago and besides the RB its probably my favorite setup.
