I was at the local Walmart yesterday around 10:30 A.M. to pick up a few items and I hit the ammo cage first. While looking at the stock, there were value boxes of Win 9mm, 40, and 45, no 22. So I asked the WM guy if he had any 22 hiding somewhere and the reply was those 2 guys at the checkout bought the 10 boxes of 333 22lr. They have dropped the 3 box limit and these dudes bought it all. He also stated that they were waiting at the back of the store for the truck to be unloaded as they do about every morning. I might get lucky someday.

same thing happened to me at Sportsman warehouse the other day but they still had the three box limit...I was behind the guy that got the last 3@100 22lr boxes, so I got 3@50 of the 22lr...some is better than none I guess...I should have known they had ammo as every guy walking towards checkout was on his cellphone....

I talked to our Walmart Sporting Goods Manager and he told me the same guys are there everyday and they buy whatever 22LR ammo they can get. He also knows these guys sell it on Gun Broker so it's a cottage industry for them and they must be making enough to go there every day. He said they list the 525 bricks for $80 on Gun Broker and it must sell because they keep coming in everyday. He said he hates this but there is nothing he can do about it as the store is first come first served with the 3 box limit.

No reason if they are buying them for their own family.
If they are turning around and selling them for $80 they should be ashamed of themselves. I realize capitalism is Ok and good but this is immoral. If there was a flood and the local gas station was selling gas for $20 a gallon, they would be cited for price gouging. I saw that in 911. The stations got closed down. I don't see what the difference is.

Maybe the only way to shut these guys down is for someone to stock a few hundred (thousand) bricks and then sell them on line at cost or maybe cost plus a dollar (including shipping) then the gougers will lose all their customers.

BS, this is not gouging.

The crime of Price Gouging is a large increase in the selling price of goods essential to preserve life, limb and property. This increase is in response to a sudden change in supply usually caused by a natural disaster. It also implies that the purchaser has no other reasonable means to acquire the product in question and is being forced to pay the raised price.

If you buy some non-essential item off the internet for a high price when you have the same option to go down and wait for it at the store or to purchase through other means open to you, that is your conscious decision. You are not going to lose life, limb or property if you do not buy some 22 ammunition.

That is not gouging by the seller, that is being lazy by the buyer.

Wow, could there be any more of a dead horse than this discussion. If anybody buys "your" ammo it MUST be because they are an unemployed bum. If people put half as much effort into buying some ammo instead of whining about "gougers" "flippers" and whatever "jackwagons" are, they'd have plenty of ammo.

I have not stood in line. However, i have stock piled 16,000+ rounds of 22 in the last year. Wm, dicks, online-cabelas, gander. It is possible to get it.

As for the wm that "cant do anything" about the guys waiting every morning. BS! They can kick them out for loitering. Or they can stock the shelf at random times!

to stand behind a truck unloading just to beat everybody
else who wants a little ammo then have at it.
I'm convinced most of all of these types are "connected"
in some way, shape or form with management of said
store.
Sorry if it offends, call it like i see it.
It's not doing the shooting public any favors.
Just making somebody with no life easy money by preying
on others.
It does'nt affect me one iota as i buy from my LGS when
i need it.

That's an excellent idea. Kick out the regular, paying customers. You missed your calling as a retail manager.

I don't know, I don't stay there for hours to see who's "loitering." I walk back to see the ammo case, maybe buy a couple of cans of dog food and leave. If I leave with no ammo, I'm able to do so without sobbing about it on the internet.
