I just plunked down the vast sum of $290 for a 5" , P&R, Model 27-2, which I will be picking up this afternoon. Has some good honest wear on the cylinder's high spots - it's no safe queen - but hasn't been abused either.

No box, etc. but it locks up tight as a bank. I don't think it's actually been shot much at all. The biggest issue is that there was some event that dragged the bottom of the grip across something, chipping the outside edges of both panels and craving a few moderate scratches right over the top of the serial number (it's still very legible)... weird.

I love N frames anyway and couldn't whip my wallet out fast enough, but is there anything particularly interesting or special that I ought to look for... changes, mods, etc?

Any 27-2 that has tight lockup and correct timing and isn't a rust bucket is worth what you paid.

+1
Who cares about some chips and scratches for that price

My wife would have to sew my pocket back on, from me trying to get my wallet out so fast.

Nice snag, and a darn good deal IMHO, congrats.

Wish I could run across a 5in 27 in the shape you describe for that price! I've not seen a 27 in any decent shape for less than 400.00; you would have still had a good deal in that price range. A quick remedy would be to put a nice set of oversize targets on it and the frame scratches you describe would be out of sight!

Chances are, you will never make a better gun deal in your lifetime. A 5" 27 is one of my grail guns. $290, geez, what a steal! If I had luck like yours,I would go buy a lottery ticket today!
