5" Model 29-3 Silhouette

I have found allot online about the 10 3/8" model 29 silhouette, but not much on the 5". Does anyone here know why they were made and years produced?

I have one and would like to learn more about it.

You should check the length of your barrel again. Measure it from the end of the barrel at the muzzle to the face of the cylinder, which is the correct way to measure a revolver. It should be 6", not 5".
The 29-3 Classic Hunter came out in 1987. There was a contest in Shooting Times magazine to give it a name, and Classic Hunter won out. It came from the factory with a non fluted cylinder, adjustable four position silhouette front sight, and Hogue rubber monogrips.

They were produced in 1987 for Lwe Horton distributors, in a run of 5000.

Lew Horton

The pictured Classic Hunter 6" was made for Lew Horton in 1987. It came from the factory with Hogue rubber finger groove grips. The order was for 5000 guns. The product code for this gun is 101230.
