Here's my Pre 29 5"..............

It shipped as a 4", had an un-numbered 6 1/2" barrel included in the deal when I bought it. So I shortened the 6 1/2" barrel, here she is as a 5".

"I'm mighty fond of those 5" N frames also. I have a Triple Lock, a 2nd model, two 3rd models, and a converted M27-all in .44 Special. I have a 5" .32-20 M&P and a 5" Colt Official Police .32-20 too.

I haven't shown this guy for a while, so I'll trot him out again. A 1934 Heavy Duty with Grashorn stags. This strikes me as the perfect western lawman's gun of the 1930s and 1940s. (Though nuestro amigo Dave might think it has to be a .44 to deserve that label.)

Here's my new toy. . .there are a of few of these still floating around, many unfired. They're in 44/40, and seem to be really good shooters.

My only 5" N is this pre-29 four screw which I'm sure started life with a longer barrel. The serial number in the ejector housing has a diamond after and there is a rework date from 1963; so, I'm guessing S&W did the work. Someday when money isn't so damn tight I'll get this gun lettered; but, it is on my never part with list and I'm not sure a letter matters to me that much.

29-1, I'm not usually a fan of the M29 but that one is awesome! (smile)

Someone asked about my cut down barrels. Two of them (2nd Model HE and the M24-3) were already done when I got them. The 1955 was done by a good friend of mine who is a gunsmith with a strong affinity for S&W revolvers (SWCA member). He does the job like the factory, pinning the ramp to the rib, then pinning the front sight to the ramp. If you want the pins polished flat then it requires a re-blue. He's sort of retired (smile) so he doesn't want his contact info on the net but he said I can PM his contact info for folks from this forum.

Something a bit different

Here is a Model 27 converted by Bowen to 44 Special.

Here is a Colt New Service in 38-40 with a 4.5" barrel. They didn't make a 5". It was made in 1918 but certainly doesn't look its age.
